After making a conscious effort to streamline my make up routine (some days skipping it altogether) I shifted my focus back to skincare. I have experimented with various products and techniques over time and found some that worked quite well for me. These are some skincare “secrets” that have been absolute game changers for me.

Lemon Water: Every morning I waddle off into the kitchen and make myself a cup of lemon water. Not only does it help offset wrinkles (by encouraging the body to produce more collagen) and acne (by flushing the toxins out of your body) but it’s also packed with antioxidants to keep your skin feeling youthful and bright.

Rose Water: The perfect solution to aggravated, sensitive, acne prone skin. It tightens pores, and has many anti-aging properties that help fight off wrinkles. The cooling effect and antibacterial properties of rose water make it an excellent ingredient to look for if you have eczema or extremely sensitive skin. The toner pictured above is my current go to and favorite (hurray for wonderful, locally made, all natural products!) but any rose water toner should do the trick!

Sunscreen: Absolutely vital, I cannot stress how important sunscreen is! Not only does it prevent hyperpigemntation and wrinkles, but most importantly protects from skin cancer. Living in a sunny environment I’ve seen first hand the damaging effects that the sun can have on the skin, so it’s always better to be safe and protect the vibrancy and youthfulness of your face by investing in sunscreen.

Little tricks: Getting enough sleep whenever possible works wonders for the skin! Also, occasional face masks that address your skin’s current condition is great (exfoliating mask for dullness, clay mask for purifying, and a hydrating mask for injecting moisture back into the skin.) And when all else fails and a pesky pimple or two make an appearance I would highly recommend using the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion overnight for instant results the next morning.
