Looking back at these photographs of Finland make my heart melt and swell with wanderlust simultaneously! The breathtaking scenery and serene atmosphere make Lapland a quintessential winter wonderland.

Husky Safari

Our first adventure at Hotel Kakslauttanen! A two hour husky ride and some cuddle time with these adorable fluffballs? Sign me up! The safari was incredibly fun because we got to help push and steer the sled. My husband and I took turns at the back of the sled (not equally though, he wanted me to relax and take in the view while he did most of the hard work.) After the safari we we got to see some of the puppies which was a definite added bonus!

Exploring Kakslauttanen

There was so much beauty to take in and so many things to see at the resort. My husband and I really enjoyed our walks around Kakslauttanen. We saw some beautiful Icelandic horses and visited the reindeer farm (on horseback), as well as Santa’s Village. We also went on a reindeer safari one night and it was absolutely spectacular seeing the resort and landscape drenched in moonlight.

Glass Igloo

We spent an unforgettable night in one of the world famous glass igloos. Staying at Kakslauttanen’s glass igloo was high up on my bucket list and I will forever feel grateful for this experience (best husband award.) The igloos were warm and extremely cozy, we barely left because the view from inside was absolutely phenomenal. As luck would have it we saw the Aurora once while in Finland, and that was on the night we spent in our glass igloo! Sleeping under a blanket of stars and Northern Lights was probably my favorite memory of Lapland.
